Welcome to the SCA Website!

If you live in Greater Stonegate, then consider the SCA website a valuable "go-to" source of information for you!

This homepage provides overview information about Community and Association News, Upcoming Events and Activities and other  important dates.  More details are provided on other pages of this site.

December 2018 is the most recent edition of the Stonegate Citizens Association Newsletter (the "eSCAN").  It and earlier editions may be accessed by using the link in the right column. The SCA would welcome one or a couple new volunteers to replace our long-serving and now retired newsletter editor.

Community News:

Mega-Developments in Rural Communities:  Greater Stonegate is part of the Cloverly Master Plan Area.  Part of the plan area is slated for low-density rural/residential purposes.  Right now, two separate Private Institutional Facilities ("PIF") are planning extremely large construction projects in the Cloverly Master Plan area.  The development plans exceed guidance of the master plan and present detrimental impacts to the environment and to area residents. The hope is that each of these projects will be significantly downsized to better fit within the available space, infrastructure and community.

In 2019, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals remanded the first project back to the Montgomery County Planning Board for reconsideration.  A (limited-scope) public hearing will be scheduled for early in 2020.

While we do not know for sure, it SEEMS that the planners of the second project are awaiting the final ruling on the first project.

2019 Recap: With vacancies in several key roles, 2019 was, in some regards, a fairly low-key year for the SCA.  Having said that, the SCA provided financial support for a Spring Egg Hunt and co-sponsored a very successful 4th of July parade and picnic!  These events could not have happened without the initiative of volunteers!  So, a big "Thank You!" to those who put their time and talents to work to make these events possible!

The landscaping at the community entrances at Notley & Bonifant and at Stonegate & New Hampshire were maintained partly by contractors and partly through efforts by a few long-standing volunteers!

In 2019, there was also a project to replace the lariope in the center median near the New Hampshire Avenue entrance with sod.  This will simplify maintenance in the years ahead.

SCA Membership & Dues Changes: In December, the membership voted to reduce the annual dues from $20/year/household to $10/year.  This vote included the decision to credit all 2019 member households has "paid" through 2020!

If you were not a member in 2019 and haven't signed up for 2020, please do so now!  If you are unsure of your membership status, please tap on that "Contact Us" feature at the top of the screen to submit your inquiry.

  • Membership count is especially important when there are issues that adversely affect our community.
  • Membership dues are the primary source of funds for covering the various association expenses which include meeting costs, some common-area landscaping, recognition of community contributors co-sponsorship of the 4th of July event and other fees and expenses.
  • Annaul dues are now just $10 per household.
    • You can pay on-line using either the "Join On-line" or the "Become a Member" tab in the right margin.
    • Or you can download a membership application from our document library (either separately, or from the most recent SCAN).
  • If you live in Greater Stonegate, please support this community organization by becoming an SCA member.

The SCA desperately needs some new volunteers to fill some of the roles that enable the organization to do more for the community.  If you have some time and talent to share in 2020, then please use the "Contact Us" feature at the top of this screen to, well, contact us! The Association is only as strong as the support it gets from the community.  Please plan to volunteer a few hours of your time.  There are lots of ways to help!
